1. What Precedent is

Precedent is a drafting tool for lawyers. It generates draft blog posts from public court decisions, attaches the source of each draft, and provides a quality report that flags facts and claims worth verifying. Precedent is a writing tool, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice.

2. Early access reservation ($1)

3. Drafts are not legal advice

Every draft is generated from a public court decision and is provided for informational and editorial purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice, and it may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying every fact, citation, and claim before publishing anything. A licensed lawyer must review all content before it is published. If you are not a lawyer, do not publish drafts from this tool as legal content.

4. Ownership

You own the content you edit and publish. We claim no rights to what you produce. Drafts are generated on demand and are not stored by us after generation; you are responsible for saving copies of anything you want to keep.

5. No invented citations

Drafts are built only from decisions we actually retrieved, and each draft carries its source link. That said, AI generation can make mistakes: the case name, dates, numbers, or holdings in a draft may differ from the source. Verify against the linked decision before publishing. We do not warrant that any draft is free of factual or citation errors.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use Precedent to generate spam, deceptive content, content impersonating another attorney, or content intended to mislead courts or clients. Sexually explicit, pornographic, or sexual content of any kind is prohibited. You may not attempt to access the service through automated abuse, exceed the demo rate limits, or interfere with its operation. See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full list.

7. Service availability

Precedent is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we do not guarantee search engine rankings or traffic for content produced with the tool.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the fees you actually paid to us. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including claims arising from content you publish.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
